Wednesday, May 30th, 2007Lately, on the BBC, they have taken to saying Joe-say and not Hoe-say when talking about someone called José The José concerned, (because I believe it just to be the one, and not all people called José) is something to do with football (Soccer, that is. Not that bizarre hybrid rugby/footy game that is played in the US).
I’m not 100%, but I think it could be José Mourinho. Anyhoo… the Beeb have a special department that researches and then informs it’s presenters on how to pronounce words. Sometimes these pronunciations get amended. Like we are supposed to say Nee-jerre instead of Ny-jer when we’re saying Niger. Still with me? Eh, WTF. It’s just today we are looking at a chap called Julio. And, being as I like it when we have names (something that is on the increase, thankfully) I need to know what to call him, in my head.
So, here’s Julio (Hoolio, Joolio). He’s got these fantastic tattoos across his chest and arms, that he’s greased-up to make all shiny and vibrant… neat.
